Lorenzo and Celeste From Palo Alto asked:

What Do phytoplankton look like?

There are many types of phytoplankton and they all look a little different. Some are bacteria, some are protists, and others are diatoms. Diatoms are the main type that will be studied on this expedition

How Many branches do they have?

Phytoplankton are one celled organisms so they don’t have branches. Diatoms live encased in a glass-like structure. They are rectangular in shape. Check out this NASA website: earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/Phytoplankton/
