Chaetoceros is a chain forming diatom (phytoplankton) that is common in the Arctic. It can exist as single floating cells or join together to form long chains. I am building up a series of plankton drawings based on what the scientists on the ship are seeing, so that I can have a bank of Chukchi Sea plankton to work from back on land.
