A few days ago the Healy’s coast guard members conducted a promotion ceremony on the ice. One of the coast guard personnel to advance was Mr. Yancy Plascencia. On June first Mr. Plascencia was promoted from Senior Chief Machinery Technician to Maritime Safety and Security Warrant Engineer Officer. After completing this Healy expedition MSSE2 Plascencia will relocate to New Orleans to inspect international vessels as they come to port. Two important changes to Mr. Plascencia’s uniform are depicted below. In image 2 he is given his shoulder boards and in image 3 his enlisted cover (hat) is exchanged for his officer cover. MSSE2 Plascencia’s promotion certificate was read aloud by Executive Officer Greg Stanclik during the ceremony.
