.Graphite We entered the ice and crossed the arctic circle today. The ice is constantly charging and completely mesmerizing. I could watch it for hours. I did this drawing by toning the entire paper with powdered graphite and then “drawing” the ice with an eraser. 5 Responses Eliza May 29, 2014 This drawing is so beautiful! when I first saw it I thought it was a drawing! I love how you drew the ice with the eraser. Its very exciting that you guys have entered the Arctic Circle! Have you seen many polar bears and marine animals? I hope the sky is never as grey as it is in this drawing! I also really loved your drawing of the circle phytoplankton. It was the center plankton of my print. Good luck the rest of your trip! Reply Eliza May 29, 2014 Sorry i ment to say picture! Reply Chelsea Clarke May 31, 2014 Thanks Eliza! We have actually seen quite a few polar bears! They’re usually pretty far away but still fun to watch through binoculars. I feel very lucky to have the chance to see them in the wild. I’m sorry to report though that the sky is as gray as the drawing a lot of the time. We do have sunny days, but there are a lot of clouds and fog here. It’s still beautiful though! By the way, all the scientists who have seen the photo of your print love it! Reply Libby June 8, 2014 Love it Chelsea, keep them coming! Reply Chelsea Clarke June 11, 2014 Libby! Glad you like it and I wish you could be here to see the ice for real! Your little goose drawing is very sweet, I didn’t know it was possible to choose your own icon but I should have known you could never be a pixelated robot Reply Leave a Reply to Eliza Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.
